FAQ

When should I hire a doula?

It’s never too early—or too late—to reach out. Some families contact me in the first trimester, others in the final weeks. Ideally, we’ll begin working together in the second or early third trimester so there’s plenty of time to build trust, plan for birth, and prepare together.

Will you still support me if i plan to get an epidural or have a cesarean birth?

Absolutely. I support all types of births—medicated, unmedicated, vaginal, planned cesareans, and everything in between. My role is to help you feel informed, supported, and confident in whatever choices are best for you.

Will you work with a partner too?

Yes! I love helping partners feel more included and prepared. I offer tools, reassurance, and suggestions so they can feel confident supporting you—and I step in when needed, so they can rest or be present without the pressure of knowing it all.

What kind of support do you offer after birth?

My postpartum care is personalized to meet you where you are—emotionally, physically, and practically. This may include help with feeding, processing your birth experience, light nourishment support, recovery education, and simply being a calming presence in those early, tender weeks.

Do I have to have you as my birth doula to book postpartum care?

Not at all. I offer postpartum support as a stand-alone service for anyone who needs it—whether we worked together during your pregnancy or not. Sometimes you don’t know what you’ll need until baby is here, and I’m here when that time comes.

What if breastfeeding isn’t going how I imagined?

That’s more common than you think and you’re not doing anything wrong. Whether you’re struggling with latch pain, supply worries, or just feeling unsure, I’m here to walk through it with you. My role isn’t to pressure or push- it’s to listen, troubleshoot, and help you find a rhythm that feels right for you and your baby.

Do you offer in-home or in-office lactation support?

Yes! I offer both in-home and in-office visits depending on what’s most comfortable and convenient for you. I also provide hospital-based visits if you need help right after delivery. Wherever we meet, my goal is to bring calm, clear support to what can sometimes feel like a very overwhelming moment.

What does a typical lactation visit look like?

Each visit is tailored to your needs, but generally includes a full feeding observation, a check on latch and positioning, discussion of your feeding goals, and time to talk through any concerns you’re experiencing. I’ll offer suggestions, answer questions, and leave you with practical steps you can take right away. Above all, my goal is for you to feel heard, supported, and a little more at ease by the time we’re done.
